Slip Slidin' Away
This is going to be a short post. I just finished driving 1500 miles in the past two days. I drove from Austin, TX to Cedar Rapids, IA then from CR to Salina, KS. The first leg was 1050 miles. When I left Kansas City it was 4:30pm and light drizzle. Then temp. was right at the freezing point. Those two elements do not make for safe driving. It took an additional two hours to drive from KC to CR due to poor roads. God was watching over me for sure.
I counted 16 cars and two 18-wheelers that had gone off the road. This morning on my drive to Salina, and in the daylight hours, I was able to see (and count) more clearly. The new count is 25 cars and 2 trucks off the road ... and that did not count the vehicles that were towed before I passed by again (I know they were there due to the obviouse markings in the median. That also did not include 1 truck that I know was removed.)
PTL - I had no mishaps. Only a couple of times that I fishtailed slightly but was able to maintain control with no problems. However, it is 9:00 pm and I am ready for bed (about 5 hours earlier than normal). Needless to say ... I'm very tired.
Oh! Today's drive was uneventful! Dry roads, medium wind! Basically, an average trip. I'll write more after this trip is over.
